Welcome to Let it Simmer.

Our experiences make us who we are and food is no exception. From individual palates to personal identities and beliefs, our lives are continuously shaped by the way we view, understand, and connect with food. These are stories everyone has, and I believe that they are a stories worth telling.

“Let it Simmer” means a few things, but it is above all an encouragement. I hope you approach these stories with an openness to what can unfold within you. Let them sit with you and make you curious about your own experience. Take what you need from them.

What you can expect

This newsletter will go out once a month and contain a post from one of the following three columns:

  • Essays: Examining the self through the lens of food

  • Seattle Food Features: Coverage of Seattle food businesses and pop-ups, highlighting the stories of local food producers, chefs, restauranteurs, entrepreneurs, and creatives

  • Portrait of a Palate: Profile interviews that explore an individual’s relationship to food, how it’s shaped them, and how that relationship has evolved over the course of their lives

If you have a unique food story or know someone who does, submit an interest form to be featured in Portrait of a Palate!
